White House | Black Market - cake part two

Tonight I came home from work and decided to re-do the top tier of this cake. This is the final cake! To see how to use these onlay molds see my previous post. I think they are the greatest thing since sliced bread!

White House | Black Market - double wedding ring pattern

This is the first cake that I have made using marvelous molds! I used the double wedding ring pattern onlay on the bottom tier. For the top tier I used a wilton silicone mold. Then I dressed the whole thing up with some sugar celebration pearls! I'm not entirely happy with the top tier so I think that I will try to recreate that tomorrow!

This is the demonstration that I watched on youtube for the molds:

Hmmm...not quite right (The boyfriend and I ate this one!)

Better! Still not perfect but getting there!

I saw on Pinterest this post on fox cookies with  star cutter from The BearFoot Baker blog. The boyfriend has a friend with a car racing team that has a fox as the mascot! They drive a fox body mustang which they call "the stang". I thought it would be fun to make these cookies!

Moscato Dinner and Cupcakes

I love moscato but one glass can give me the worst headache! Today I decided to cook with it! The results were delicious! I cheated and used McCormick's herbes de provence recipe mix. I'm a big fan of the McCormick gourmet recipe mixes. Each one comes with a shopping list of everything you need for a delicious meal on the back of the packet. I also love their sweet basil and oregano bruschetta chicken spice mix. It was super easy to make! I used chicken breast instead of bone in chicken parts. Convience is the key who has time to bone chicken when you have moscato cupcakes to make for dessert?

Teal Cinnamon Blueberry Cake with Birdie

Last night I wanted to make a cake! I had gone to JoAnne's Craft store and Wilton has this new product that is a fondant ribbon! It is perfect for easy cake borders. I also bought some celebration pearls and could not wait to use my new craft supplies! I didn't have any cake mixes...but I did have blueberries eggs, sugar and flour. I modified the Bacon Blueberry Maple Pancake Cupcakes recipe to make a cinnamon blueberry cake. Unfortunately, I didn't write down the recipe... but it was basically the same minus the bacon with the addition of cinnamon. This was my final cake! I love the birdie!

Bacon Blueberry Maple Pancake Cupcakes

I found this swell  printable download on Etsy! It's a cupcake box and I absolutely think that it is the bee's knees! How cute is it??? I had to make cupcakes just so that I could make the cute little boxes to put them in! The boyfriend/fiance's mom asked to go blueberry picking by my house on Tuesday.  The perfect opportunity for blueberry muffins then arose. However, these aren't just any blueberry muffins they are Bacon Blueberry Pancake Muffins with Maple Cream Cheese frosting. The fiance took them to work with him.  H later reported that the whole dozen disappeared in one short hour! The ones that we had at home also disappeared in a short amount of time!

From the book: The Cupcake Diaries

Bacon Blueberry Pancake Cupcakes:

6 slices maple bacon
1 and 3/4 cup of sugar
2 and 1/2 cups all purpose flour
1/2 teaspoon of baking powder
1/4 teaspoon salt
8 tablespoons unsalted butter at room temperature
2 large eggs
2 and 1/4 teaspoon vanilla extract
seeds from one vanilla bean
1 and 1/4 cups of whole milk
1/2 cup pure maple syrup
1/2 cup fresh blueberries (I think I added a whole cup - cause I had a bunch)

- Preheat oven to 350 degrees
- Fry and crumble bacon then set it aside - sprinkle bacon with a little sugar after frying
- Sift together flour, baking powder, and salt and set aside also
- Next cream the butter and sugar together in a stand mixer
- Add the two eggs to the butter sugar mixture mixing slowly
- Next add the milk and vanilla
- Finally reduce your mixture speed to low and fold in the flour mixture, and then add the maple syrup
- Lastly fold in the bacon bits and blueberries by hand using a mixing spoon or spatula

Next fill cupcake liners and bake the muffins for 18-20 mins! :)

Superman Buttercream Transfer

The boyfriend's dad had a birthday this week and I got a specific request for a chocolate chip cookie! I used the classic toll house cookie recipe the is on the back of the chocolate chip bag. I made a giant pan cookie! Then used the buttercream transfer method to transfer superman onto the cake.
